About Andy Perkins

Founder of BlueZone and Creator of the BlueZone Method

For more than 20 years, I’ve helped people become stronger, healthier and more capable.

Not just athletes.

Not just gym-goers.

Real people.

Busy parents trying to regain their energy.

Professionals struggling to balance health with work and family life.

People in their sixties, seventies and beyond who want to remain active, independent and confident.

People who simply want to get more out of life.

Because at the heart of everything I do is a simple belief:

Your body should support the life you want to live.

Whether that’s playing football with your children, hiking on holiday, competing in sport, travelling the world, or staying active with your grandchildren, the goal is the same.

To build strength, fitness and resilience that lasts a lifetime.

My Journey

When I first entered the fitness industry in 2005, I thought success was about helping people lose weight and get fitter.

But over the years I realised something much more important.

The people who achieved the best long-term results weren’t necessarily the most talented.

They weren’t the most disciplined.

And they certainly weren’t the people chasing the latest fitness trend.

They were the people who focused on the fundamentals.

They built strength.

They improved their fitness.

They moved well.

They recovered properly.

They developed sustainable habits.

And most importantly, they stayed consistent.

That observation became even clearer as my career evolved.

I’ve worked with people from all walks of life.

From busy parents and retirees to elite athletes competing at the highest levels of sport.

Despite their different goals, the foundations of success were remarkably similar.

The same principles that help an athlete perform at their best are often the same principles that help someone remain healthy, active and independent later in life.

The difference is simply how those principles are applied.

That realisation would eventually become the foundation of BlueZone.

Working With Elite Athletes Taught Me Something Unexpected

Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with athletes across a wide range of sports.

I’ve supported professional footballers, rugby players, cricketers, motorsport competitors and athletes progressing through national and international pathways.

I’ve worked with talented young athletes who went on to represent their sports at the highest levels, including athletes who have competed professionally and internationally.

What surprised me was that the biggest lessons weren’t about sport.

They were about people.

The athletes who performed best weren’t always the most naturally gifted.

They were the ones who consistently mastered the basics.

Strength.

Movement.

Recovery.

Lifestyle.

Resilience.

The same qualities that support high performance in sport also support high performance in life.

Today, my focus is helping everyday people benefit from those same principles.

Not to become elite athletes.

But to become stronger, healthier and more capable versions of themselves.

Why BlueZone Was Created

Over the last two decades I’ve become increasingly concerned about the direction modern health is heading.

People are living longer than ever before.

Yet many are spending those extra years dealing with poor mobility, declining fitness, chronic disease and loss of independence.

At the same time, health advice has become increasingly confusing.

Every week there seems to be a new diet.

A new workout trend.

A new supplement promising miraculous results.

Many people are left feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start.

BlueZone was created to simplify the process.

To cut through the noise.

To focus on the things that matter most.

The goal was to create a practical system that helps people improve their healthspan—the years of life spent healthy, active and capable.

Not through extremes.

Not through quick fixes.

But through evidence-based principles applied consistently over time.

That system became known as the BlueZone Method.

Assess. Improve. Retest.

A simple framework that helps people understand where they are today, identify what needs improving and measure meaningful progress over time.

Why I Believe In Assessment

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a coach is that people often focus on the wrong measurements.

Most people know their weight.

Many know their clothing size.

Some know their body fat percentage.

But very few know whether they are becoming stronger.

Fitter.

More balanced.

More mobile.

More resilient.

Yet these are often the qualities that have the greatest influence on long-term health and independence.

That’s why every BlueZone journey begins with assessment.

Because when you understand your strengths and weaknesses, you can stop guessing.

You gain clarity.

You know where to focus your efforts.

And you can measure whether what you’re doing is actually working.

Assessment isn’t about judgement.

It’s about understanding.

And understanding creates better decisions.

What I Believe

I don’t believe health should dominate your life.

I believe it should support it.

I don’t believe everyone needs to train harder.

I believe they need to train smarter.

I don’t believe the goal is to look like a fitness model.

I believe the goal is to build a body that allows you to enjoy your life for as long as possible.

To have energy.

To have confidence.

To have freedom.

To have options.

To remain capable.

That’s what BlueZone is all about.

Helping people build strength, fitness, resilience and healthy habits that support a lifetime of adventure, independence and wellbeing.

Because the goal isn’t simply to live longer.

It’s to live better.
